Project 350 | What is needed?

What work is proposed for the tower?

Work needs to be done to the tower now, to stop water ingress caused by the deterioration of the string course (the stone ‘sill’ that deflects water from the face of the tower).

For over 600 years, wind, rain and the elements have attacked the stonework of Holy Trinity Church, leaving the tower and windows worn and weather-beaten.

How much?

Carrying out this conservation work is expensive, due to the skilled workmanship, the specialist scaffolding and the particular materials needed. The estimated cost of the tower and window work is £350,000, hence the name, Project 350. This is the amount needed to complete proposed renovations to the tower and windows, at today's prices.

Where will the money come from?

A successful appeal has been made to English Heritage and also to other grant making bodies.

Support has been outstanding from the congregation and the community through their donations and attendance at fund raising events.
